Algorithm: OSDWS (EOS Ltd)
Purpose:
System for automatic oil spill detection.

- Works best with full resolution SAR PRI images.
Output data:
- Contours for possible man made spills and possibility classification together with associated parameters (position, time, area, etc.).
Main processing steps:
- Interactively, image input, image filtering, spill detection.

JRC is using the system under a MoU with EOS Ltd. The system has also been used within the relevant SCA project OILWATCH.
Limitations:
- Low performance in complicated images, coastal areas and low resolution imagery.
